Welcome to my site!
I have created this sight as venue for sharing my body of work. The work is always evolving, going in different directions and is never done. What I show is a finished product, however that doesn't mean it can't be changed, expanded, or reworked to create something new.
My History
I came to photography rather late in life but the passion was there long before I took that first class at the local Community Collage several years ago. I had dabbled a bit before and always thought some day I would take it up but until then I had not taken the time to really understand the technical aspects of the camera. To really understand how exploiting light, shades of color and black and white, texture, focal lengths, lens type and depth of field as much as subject matter all play into the creating of an image.
Why Digital
I like the creative freedom digital imaging gives me to print my own images allowing me to take an image from concept to conclusion. I am intuitively driven and find that a digital format is more suited to my style of approaching photography.
A little bit about my pieces:
I like to print my images on Artist watercolor paper. I feel the visual texture of the paper enhances textures, especially those found in nature, whether it be the harshness of a blades of grass against the soft hues of the sky , or the softness of a powder blue sky with cottony clouds.
I have been experimenting with the use of a multiple layer print process that gives my images depth, saturation and richness that otherwise might be lost in the watercolor paper.
I can also print on traditional ink jet photo papers including, glossy, matte and canvas. All prints are done with water fast, archival, pigmented inks for longevity.
I've done a lot of work with manipulations, using dolls and manikins as stand ins for humans.
I will continue to do that but my real interest is in photographing nature, both as it is and as I see it.
I love to work with layers, both visually and perceptually. Life itself has many layers which time and nature work to expose. So in this art imitates life and life imitates art.
Have a look around and enjoy
